8 Educational multimedia copyright guidelines for teachers
These guidelines, which were produced in 1998 as part of the Conference on Fair Use, refer to use, without permission, of copyrighted works in educational projects for course-related work.
Note that these limits are not legally binding, and fair use doctrine may allow for greater usage than the guidelines.
| Motion media | Ten percent, or 30 minutes, whichever is less |
| Songs / Lyrics | Ten percent, or 30 seconds, whichever is less |
| Photos / Illustrations | Ten percent, or 15 images, whichever is less |
| No more than 5 images of any artist or photographer | |
| Text | Ten percent, or 1,000 words, whichever is less |
| Complete poems of less than 250 words, but no more than 3 poems by any one poet |
